Spirit of Children Doing Ghoulish Good FOR OCH

For many children, the start of autumn means that the yearly tradition of picking out a Halloween costume is drawing near – do they want to go traditional with a scary mask and cape? Or maybe dress up as this year’s most popular movie or video game character? No matter what they pick, this is the time of year that children get to be creative and express themselves!

However, for children in the hospital with critical injuries or who are immunocompromised, it may be nearly impossible to head out to the store to pick up a costume. And for those that are inpatient, sometimes Halloween comes and goes without them even being able to trick-or-treat.

But thanks to Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospital partner Spirit of Children (Spirit Halloween’s charitable foundation), Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) is happy to provide a bit of the festivities to the kids in the hospital! In years past, Spirit of Children has visited the hospital and collaborated with our Child Life Team to decorate playrooms, supply fun Halloween-themed activities and provide each child with their very own Halloween costume. We are extremely grateful to Spirit of Children for providing this fiendish fun to our patients and allowing them to feel more at-ease, even when they need to spend a fun holiday in the hospital.

Spirit of Children has been supporting local children’s hospitals since 2007, raising nearly $110 million for over 150 partner hospitals to-date. Spirit Halloween locations raise funds through customers donating at check-out and ringing the iconic purple cowbell. So make sure to head to your local Spirit of Halloween store for the autumn season and ring that purple bell at checkout FOR the kids at OCH!
