Banding Together in the Wake of the Blizzard

After the City of Buffalo experienced a once-in-a-generation blizzard that trapped many in their homes, turned off the power & heat for others, and even took the lives of some, one family expecting their first child was in need of support.

Learning of the family’s need, our team at The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo Foundation jumped in to rally what resources we had – calls were made and soon we were in contact with our Children’s Miracle Network partners at Walmart, Sam’s Club & Tops Friendly Markets.

These generous organizations were able to coordinate many much-needed resources for the family:

  • Walmart offered our team an unlimited budget to grab anything that the family may need to care for their baby, including a breastfeeding pump & supplies, a nursery center play yard with a safe sleep certified bassinet, a car seat & travel system, clothes and more. Our team ended up filling four carts with items for the family!
  • Sam’s Club in Niagara Falls prepared a cart for the family that included many hygienic baby items: diapers, wipes, clothing detergent, baby soap and pajamas.
  • Tops in Depew donated gift cards for the purchase of anything we may have missed!

We want to express our sincere gratitude for these stores and all that they did to support this family. Our corporate partners continue to amaze us with their generosity and compassion towards our loved ones and neighbors here in Western New York – Thank you to Walmart, Sam’s Club and Tops Friendly Markets!
